LaSalle County Crime Statistics

The Illinois State Police (ISP) publishes annual reports of crime statistics for all counties in the state. In 2018, LaSalle County reported a total number of 1,421 crimes, including 121 violent crimes and 1,300 property crimes. The violent crimes include one homicide, 47 rapes, 10 robberies, and 63 aggravated assaults. The property crimes include 211 burglaries, 1,024 larcenies, 42 motor vehicle thefts, and 23 cases of arson. LaSalle County’s 2018 crime statistics reveal a significant decline in total crimes of the county from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2018, there was a decline in seven of eight major crimes. Homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault rates declined by 67%, 20%, 17%, and 34% respectively. Burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft rates declined by 33%, 20%, and 21% respectively. At the same time, the rate of arson increased by 53%.
