Will County Inmate Search
A Will County Inmate search is a process through which interested persons can obtain pertinent information about current or recently released detainees of the county's detention facility. When an individual commits a crime or violates an ordinance or law within Will County, Illinois, with due cause, they may be arrested, detained, and prosecuted within the criminal justice system. If the individual's offense warrants their detention, they may be booked into the county's detention facility. During the booking process, the offender's information, details about their offense, and detention are generated and made part of Will County Public Records per Illinois's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 ILCS 140).
Primarily, Will County inmate searches are conducted to obtain information about detainees of the county detention facility. This may be particularly significant to the detainees' friends and family members who intend to visit them during their incarceration. Furthermore, by performing an inmate search, interested parties can learn more about a detainee's detention in the Will County jail, including their charges, bail amount, and booking.
Inmate records are considered public in the United States and therefore are made available by both traditional governmental agencies as well as third-party websites and organizations. Third-party websites may offer an easier means to search, as these services do not face geographical limitations. However, because third-party sites are not government-sponsored, the information obtained through them may vary from official channels. To find inmate records using third-party aggregate sites, requesting parties must provide:
- The location of the sought-after record, including state, county, and city where the inmate resides.
- The name of the person listed in the record, unless it is a juvenile.

The Center for Correctional Concerns (CCC) is responsible for providing these programs. The CCC is a non-profit agency established in 1979, and it partners with the Will County Jail to provide educational programs, and social services to the inmates. These include GED programs, drug counseling, substance abuse classes, recovery lessons, and weekly worship services. The facility also independently maintains administrative, medical, dietary, and recreational facilities to meet inmates' needs.
Besides the WCADF, the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center is the only other detention facility situated in Will County. As stated in its name, the detention center houses juvenile offenders between ten (10) and seventeen years old. The River Valley Juvenile Detention Center is part of the River Valley Justice Center. It is a joint venture between Kankakee and Will County and is used as a temporary placement center for juvenile offenders. According to the facility, 565 juvenile offenders were admitted in 2019.
