The Illinois State Police provides annual crime statistics in all counties of the state. In 2018, Vermilion County recorded 93 rapes, 117 robberies, 491 aggravated assaults, 636 burglaries, 1550 thefts, 117 motor vehicle thefts, and 17 arsons. The Vermilion County Clerk serves as a central repository for records of births that occurred in the county. Birth records are confidential records and restricted for the first 75 from the date of the birth. During this period, a certified copy of a birth certificate can only be requested by the registrant, the registrant's parent, or by any individual authorized by a competent court. However, anyone can request this record during the 75-year period if the registrant is dead.
