Kane County Inmate Search

In Kane County, Illinois, when a crime or offense is committed, the individual may be arrested and imprisoned. A Kane County inmate search helps inquirers access information about these incarcerated individuals. This includes details of the offense committed, the jail or prison in which they are confined, the date of their possible release, and all other personal data. Kane County inmate information is considered public records per Illinois law. Members of the public may look up all Kane County Public Records, including inmate information and related data.

Inmate records are considered public in the United States and therefore are made available by both traditional governmental agencies as well as third-party websites and organizations. Third-party websites may offer an easier means to search, as these services do not face geographical limitations. However, because third-party sites are not government-sponsored, the information obtained through them may vary from official channels. To find inmate records using third-party aggregate sites, requesting parties must provide:

  • The location of the sought-after record, including state, county, and city where the inmate resides.
  • The name of the person listed in the record, unless it is a juvenile.

Where to Find a Kane County Inmate Locator

The Kane County Sheriff's Office has an inmate locator where individuals can find any inmate housed within the Kane County jail system. The search criteria are by alphabet, name, date, or general search. The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) also has an inmate locator that can be used to find Kane County inmates housed in state prisons. The search parameters are by last name, IDOC number, or birthdate. Information about inmates in federal prisons can be retrieved via the inmate locator available on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. The search can be conducted by number or name.

Requesters can also use some third-party inmate locators. Most third-party sites do not give requesters the option of searching by county. Therefore, they would need to select Illinois as the State and input the inmate's case number and first and last names to locate them. A small fee may be required for a comprehensive search.

How to Send Money to a Kane County Inmate

The Kane County Sheriff's Office provides multiple options for inmates' friends and loved ones to send money to them. Money can be placed in an inmate's account via telephone, online, in person, or through postal service. The Kane County Adult Justice Center manages the account. Depositors will need the Detainee ID and facility locator numbers to complete the transactions.

To deposit money via telephone, individuals must call (866) 232-1899 and follow the voice prompts. Online deposits can be made through an approved third-party portal. For those who wish to place the money in the inmate's account in person, kiosks in the jail lobby accept cash, credit, or debit cards. They are available 24/7 throughout the year. Individuals are also able to send money to inmates through the mail. The funds sent through this option must be at most $50; otherwise, it will be rejected. Money orders should include the inmate's full name and ID number and be sent to the appropriate mailing address.

If an inmate is released or transferred to another facility, all the money left on the Detainee Fund Account will be given to them as a debit card. The debit card provider can be contacted at (800) 284-1990.

How to Visit a Kane County Inmate

Inmates are allowed visits from their loved ones and family, including "professionals" such as clergy, law enforcement agents, and attorneys. • Visitors are also expected to come with the following documents:
  • Valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or a State issued ID card
  • Proof of relationships like birth certificates, marriage licenses, adoption papers, or other legal documents.
