What are Aurora City Public Records?

Aurora City Crime Statistics

The Aurora City Police Department collates reports of crime and arrests in the city and sends the information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for its annual Uniform Crime Report. Its 2018 and 2019 reports showed a 4% decrease in violent crimes over a single year. Murders went up by 200%, with 4 cases in 2018 and 12 cases in 2019. Reports of rape decreased by 13% as there were 68 reports in 2018 and 59 in 2019. There were more reports of aggravated assault than any other major crime. However, the number of aggravated assault reports dropped by 4.3% from 372 in 2018 to 356 in 2019.

Similarly, the 2018 and 2019 reports showed a 12.5% decrease in property crimes across the city. The most recurrent property crime- larceny-theft - decreased by 12% from 1860 reports in 2018 to 1638 reports in 2019. Vehicular theft increased by 18% (from 122 to 144 reports), while burglaries ( from 319 to 232 reports) decreased by 27.3%.

Are Aurora City Criminal Records Public?

The Illinois Freedom of Information Act allows public access to most Aurora City criminal records. However, Section 7(1)(d)(vi) of the Act provides certain exemptions. Aurora inmates are detained at the City of Aurora Detention Center. While the Detention Center keeps records of all individuals housed in its facility, it does not make the records available online. How Do I Visit an Inmate in Aurora City Jail?

The Aurora City Detention Center provides a semi-private compartment or a visiting room for detainees to visit with their spouses, immediate family, lawyers, or clergy. Where and How to Get Aurora City Death Records?

The Kane County Clerk provides certified copies of Aurora City birth records to eligible persons, including:
